On the Newsstand: Tom Friedman
In the new issue of Washingtonian, I have a profile of Thomas Friedman. It's been a piece that I first started last summer and then it got side-lined when I started full-time at the magazine.
I picked it back up in January and then all of sudden found myself a few weeks later chatting with his editor at Farrar Straus Giroux—who was interested in my book proposal about the 2008 presidential campaign. What an odd interconnected world.
As part of the reporting for this piece, I got to spend a very interesting morning chatting with Friedman. The profile's angle differed from most pieces about him because it was a personal profile, not a business profile. I was asking alot about his personal side and intellectual motivations. He finally paused, shook his head, and laughed. "No one's ever done this piece on me before."
Here's a PDF of the article.
